Staff

Oakland Audiology is an audiology-based hearing care practice. Audiologists are professionals who specialize in the assessment, diagnosis, and non-medical treatment of hearing and balance disorders. All of our providers are licensed to practice audiology in the state of Michigan and are long-standing members of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA), the world’s largest organization for the practice of audiology. AAA is dedicated to ensuring quality hearing care services through professional development, education, research, and increased public awareness of hearing and balance disorders.

MEET OUR EXPERIENCED STAFF

Our Audiologists have undergone extensive training in:

  • Normal and impaired hearing
  • Prevention of hearing loss
  • Identification and assessment of hearing problems
  • Habilitation or rehabilitation of persons with hearing disorders

The “Au.D.” (Doctor of Audiology ) is a professional degree for an audiologist.   As of 2007, the Au.D. has replaced Masters-level audiology programs as the entry-level degree.  The Au.D. program is designed to produce audiologists who are skilled in providing diagnostic, rehabilitative, and other services associated with hearing, balance, and related audiological fields. These individuals help patients with hearing problems primarily by screening for hearing loss and fitting them with hearing assistive devices. There is an emphasis on the clinical learning experience, though most programs also have a research component.
